A Little Bit About Me...

I taught and tutored students at a Learning Center in Fort Collins for several years. The math curriculum covered basic, intermediate, and advanced math. I also taught study skill subjects. I've helped high school and college students with homework support in physics, chemistry, and advanced high school math. I have also substituted in math and science classes within the Loveland school district.
My teaching style is pretty much dictated by the student and their preferred learning style or combination of styles. A Little Bit About Me...

My degrees have taken me places that I never thought they would. I was excited to teach English in a school in Costa Rica for one year. There I was able to learn Spanish quickly as well as help elementary school children learn English. I taught grammar as well as science. I also tutored on the side in all subjects. Previous to this experience I tutored a fourth grader in geography, history, and spelling. In college I used many skills that helped me to prepare for teaching. A short list of these skills is math, creative writing, computer skills, memorization, and art work. I’ve never bought into the argument that some kids just can’t do math. There is plenty of truth that some learn math much quicker and easier than others, but with a good work ethic and plenty of encouragement all kids are capable of learning these sciences. I feel the most important thing to do as a teacher is to stay positive, and try to somehow relate the math problems to real life situations. When correcting a student, it’s vital to carefully choose your words, for a harsh response will demoralize the student’s spirit and desire to learn.
