My approach to both physics and math is very concept oriented. I try to combat the 'shut up and calculate' approach that students often encounter in their schooling. Rather than expecting my students to quickly memorize and regurgitate information they barely understand, I expect students to actively engage with the material and to develop their own unique approach to problem solving. This means I am not the right tutor for students wanting me to just do their homework for them or cover a huge amount of material quickly. Learning starts with learing about oneself and how you best perform. It is very similar to sports, you start off learning the techniques and then you must learn how you best apply them, and yes it takes practice.
