**Learning Math can be FUN!**

With over 35 years experience teaching math, I have successfully taught students from third grade through college calculus. I enjoy math, and my students are able to understand it in a one-to-one teaching environment. During this time of closed schools, it is difficult for students to understand and adapt to this new way of learning. Many teachers are overwhelmed as they had to change their teaching methods with just a couple of months remaining in the school year. I have been teaching online classes at Forsyth Tech. for some time. Transfering this experience to one-on-one tutoring gives me the opportunity to help students that want to end the school year successfully. Let me help you improve your understanding with
one-on-one tutoring.

Nick is great. Very patient and makes things easy to understand. He is teaching me Calculus I (Math 150 A & B) at CSUN. I wish he was my teacher at school, I know I would not need a tutor. I am going to see him again as soon as I find out my test schedule.
"Excellent tutor on all fronts"
- Viji, Tarzana, CA on 12/10/14
Nick has been my daughter's tutor for AP Calculus over the past 6 weeks. Not only is he brilliant, he has great skills in getting complex subject matter across and understood. He does not allow the student to get frustrated, but rather helps them through with a lot of patience and tolerance. The end result is that complex concepts are grasped and built upon. He's dependable, reliable and always punctual. We 100% recommend him as an amazing tutor and are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him.

**My comments on tutoring Calculus I :** I have tutored several students in Calculus. I am a certified teacher in both math and physics and I am on the AP approved list.

As an engineer and I have taught planners and engineers how to use software to do calculations. I have taught GRE preparation for Kaplan (analytical and verbal reasoning) both to small classes of 3 to 7 students and individual tutoring. In 2009, I was accepted into the Educators of Change program by the Duval County School Board. I am now a certified teacher in Mathematics and Physics (grades 9-12). I have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s in Public Administration. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills through writing articles for publication and many professional reports.

I enjoy teaching and working with children. While I believe that all children can learn, they do so in their own ways and at their own pace. It is the tutor’s responsibility to ensure that the student(s) understand the material. It is important to show students how one id ... read more

**My comments on tutoring Calculus I :** Expert at all Calculus I concepts. Very good at breaking down the concepts and making them easy, starting with the difference quotient and how it is related to the derivative, how the derivative is related to the slope of the line tangent to a function at a point, how to find the equation of a line tangent to a function at a point, finding derivatives of all types of functions from the easy to the difficult, practical applications such as revenue, cost, profit, marginal revenue, marginal cost, elasticity of demand, etc., relative and absolute mins and maxes, optimization, related rates, and other concepts.

If you watch me closely during our sessions, you can see me secretly paying keen attention to you and how you learn best. For example, you might say, "It LOOKS like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! LOOKS. Maybe you're a visual learner and like to SEE things explained and SEE examples. (About 80% of students are visual learners.) On the other hand, you might say, "It sounds like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! sounds. Maybe you like to HEAR things explained, and you're a keen listener and like to hear things described clearly and specifically. Or maybe you'll say, "I FEEL like they want me to factor here" (as you tap the problem with your pencil). And I'll think, "Aha! FEEL. Maybe you learn by intuition and need to just jump in and work a problem or two with me step-by-step and discover the pattern of what's going on and pick up the FEEL of it. So... ... read more

I hold two master's degrees -- one in applied mathematics, one in physics. I started teaching math in 1999. I started out teaching introductory statistics and probability for several semesters at Oakwood College (now Oakwood University). I have also taught at UAH, Strayer, and Calhoun.
