Statistics is one of my top subjects! "Very knowledgeable and accommodating!" - Kim Y. Tarzana, CA on 12/22/2016 Nick S. is fantastic! He helped my daughter with her AP Statistics at the very last minute with her crazy schedule. Wish we had found him years ago! ******* — Daniel, Granada Hills, CA on 6/17/2017 Nick is hands down the best statistics tutor! My name is Dan and I have been with Nick for at least two years. We first met while I was studying Algebra 1 in high school. Nick helped me through that then Algebra 2. I then started attending Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar. I began again with Nick and he helped me get an A in Beginning / intermediate Algebra. My last two semesters have dealt with Statistics. I passed both Pre-statistics and Statistics with an A in both. Math is a difficult subject for me and Nick was most patient, and explained the problems in a real world context that made it so much easier to understand. If you are facing the daunting challenge of probabilities, T - tests, ANOVA and all the other aspects of college statistics, then you can't do better. One other thing about Nick, he is really a nice guy, as friendly as they get. ******* Mean, Median, Mode, Normal distribution, Standard Deviation, Variance, Statistical errors & residuals, Statistical Graphs, Null & Alternate hypotheses, Power, probability, probability distribution, P-Value, Random Variables, Regression Analysis, Types of Sampling, Sampling Bias & Distribution, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Binomial distribution, Chi-square distribution, t-distribution, Combinations & Permutations, Correlations, Degrees of Freedom, Frequency distribution tables, Hypergeometric distribution, Inferential Statistics. ******* Great Stats Tutor! - Briana F. Calabases, CA on 11/03/2017 I messaged Nick and he responded within minutes. It was a last minute decision to find a tutor and he met me a few hours after we connected on here. Very good at explaining this and why they are the way they are. He really helped me understand the concepts of confidence intervals, etc. in less than one hour. We finished my session early and I was very well prepared for my exam. I would HIGHLY recommend. Thank you Nick! Brianna,

My teaching style is very simple and straight forward. When I work with students, by observing them to solve problems I can tell where they need help. I have tutored more than 1000 students in person and more than 700 students online as of today 02/14/2023 and all have passed with A or B.
Hello, I’m Nick. Thank you for your time reading my bio. I offer a 15 minutes online demo session for new students. I love learning and teaching. If you want to make all of your classes go easier, I am here to show you how. I have developed a way to teach you how to learn with more ease. So you spend less time worrying and fighting the assignments and more time enjoying what you’re learning and more free time to do other important things. I have been tutoring since elementary school helping my classmates. I had to observe carefully what works with students as applied within the various subjects, ... read more

UCLA: Math/Science/Computers/Executive Functions

I'm a graduate of UCLA Engineering with a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 14 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven very effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success! EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING: Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attributed to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up w ... read more

Math and Physics Tutor

I follow the "EDGE" method for teaching: Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. I will explain the material, demonstrate it with an example, guide the student through working through a problem, and then enable the student to work independently while still being available for questions. I also try to connect what the student is learning to real-life applications, especially ones that resonate with the student's interests. I find that learning is most effective when the students can connect it to what they personally find meaningful.
I can teach algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, physics, and engineering classes. My education was in Civil Engineering with a focus on mathematics, and I have over 4 years of experience tutoring at elementary school, middle school, high school, community college, and university levels.

Statistics is one of my top subjects!

I have vast experience tutoring at both the high-school and college levels. I have previously been hired by Rutgers University, NJ as a tutor for the Executive MBA program in Newark. I also, as a part of my PhD degree, taught a college level class called Statics for two semester. My teaching evaluation was roughly 4.5/5.
I can teach in both lecture style (time consuming) or review style. In lecture style, I prepare notes on topics provided to me before meeting and present these notes with sufficient number of examples. Then I have the student work on problems to gauge his/her understanding. In review style, I concentrate on reviewing problems with the student.

I am a sophomore mathematics major at the University of Texas at El Paso. I have taught a GED class for adults facilitated by the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP) and the YWCA. I have 6 years of tutoring experience and other programs under which I tutored include the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and JROTC.
My teaching style generally varies based on who I am tutoring/teaching. I generally treat my students as adults and under the assumption that they will go to college. I also tend to go a little beyond what is covered in the subject (especially in math) as a preparation for whatever course may come next (i.e. I would probably give a prealgebra student full fledged algebra work in order to prepare him/her for the next year).

Tutor: Math, Physics, and Chemistry.

When I was studying engineering at University of Michigan, I took a job as a tutor at Washtenaw Community College. This was the most rewarding job I ever had. Since about the year 2000, I have been working as a freelance tutor in the subjects of math, chemistry and physics. I also tutor students in engineering courses. I generally work with college students or upper-class high school students. Normally I work in the Brighton/Howell Michigan area. I meet most students at a public library or coffee shop. My average rate is $50 per hour. This can be negotiated, however. I like to take the students ability to pay into consideration and will charge less per hour if advanced payment can be arranged.
I like to work one on one with students in a neutral location. Small groups are not out of the question however.
