I have over 35 years experience, as a fine artist, commercial illustrator in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR, for books, magazines, music videos, films, commercials and TV shows, as a storyboard, concept, advertising and sketch artist. Although self-taught in the arts, I have advanced drawing skills that have enabled me to exhibit my work in major cities in the US and Europe and help numerous clients realize their visions with unique design and originality. I am highly proficient with pencil. pen and ink, and colored pencils, my specialty. I think teaching styles should differ based on the preferred learning style of the student. The teaching style should play on the strengths and preferences of that particular student. That being said, I foster a student-centered approach to learning. This approach encourages the student play an equal, active role in the learning process, rather than a passive role. A cooperative approach is important so the student can feel like he or she is an active and capable participant in learning the material.
