A Little Bit About Me...

Everyone learns in different ways so it's important to me that I get to know the students first. That way I can differentiate the lessons for each student. I have also learned that students are more engaged when it's a subject matter that they care about. Of course it's not realistic that this will always be the case. Sometimes you have to learn things that you are not interested in, but approaching these subjects from the way in which the student learns best, based on Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences, can make learning not only possible, but maybe even fun.

I have over 35 years experience, as a fine artist, commercial illustrator in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR, for books, magazines, music videos, films, commercials and TV shows, as a storyboard, concept, advertising and sketch artist. Although self-taught in the arts, I have advanced drawing skills that have enabled me to exhibit my work in major cities in the US and Europe and help numerous clients realize their visions with unique design and originality. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to help make student's successful by understanding their learning style. I have had the good fortune of working with myriad learning styles in a special needs environment, (in the home and classroom) which runs from autistic spectrum disorder to talented and gifted. Working with this huge array of kids has really opened my eyes to a variety of learning tools to ensure success. I am also very enthusiastic and children always find me to be relatable, despite where they are coming from in their academic process.
