Experience Summary
Teaching has been my focus for the past 25 years, resulting in a bachelors degree in Psychology and a masters degree in Classical Archaeology and Art. I was an Assistant Curator of Ancient Art, teaching the university's Honors courses in Classical Studies and giving numerous lectures. By writing various papers and a master's thesis, I am experienced in research, writing and presentation. I have taught history to high school students for six years, taught Girl Scout leaders and girls in my own troop for ten years, tutored Native American college students in all subjects and taught vocal lessons.
Teaching Style
I love to teach people of all ages, developing great relationships. I am an interactive teacher, in that I believe in hands-on activities directed to that person's style of learning, determined through my experience in psychology and counseling. Thinking of learning as an adventure, I utilize discussion, creativity and a holistic approach with firm parameters believing they will enable the learner to feel empowered by the knowledge they receive. There are no failures in learning, only opportunities to challenge oneself and rise to success.
