A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently enrolled at Charleston Southern University. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. Taking these classes has helped me understand students and their different learning needs so much more. During the last six years I have tutored students in all subjects and ranging in all grade levels.
All children are unique in their own way. They each have different learning styles. I am a very patient person. I strive to help each child succeed in every aspect of their education. There are students that need to see things written down and I am able to do that. What ever their learning style may be I am capable to adapt to it. With patience comes care and want for each student to reach success. Making a difference in each students life will make a difference in mine.

I feel that every child can learn, but every child learns differently. I feel it is very important to connect the content with the students. It makes the learning more meaningful. I enjoy working with students in small groups so that I can give them the attention that they need. My students learn through many of their own experiences as well. I am very patient with my students. I very rarely give my students an answer to a questions. Instead, I ask in the student appropriate questions or point the student in the right direction to figure out the answer on his or her own. My teaching style is very much like my personality. I am goal oriented and I like to help students set goals and see them achieve them. I don't try to teach beyond my ability, but I do bring out the drive in students to succeed. I try to make learning fun and I am creative in my efforts. I am very easy to communicate with and I am very outgoing. I firmly believe that anyone can make music if they understand that it requires some practice and some desire to learn. I love seeing a child's face light up when they learn how to play a piece of music or make a sound on an instrument; it is a phenomenal feeling. I felt that I was cheated out of my music education so I try to make it my goal to make sure I do not do the same to other young people.
