I have a thourough knowledge of music and can teach reading, theory, basic improvisation, and technique on virtually band instruments. I currently play the trumpet and sing in church and I love wrking with students at all levels. I have a master's degree in school counseling and can help students apply for scholarships and grants and help them find a school that is suitable to their individual needs and career interests. All children are unique in their own way. They each have different learning styles. I am a very patient person. I strive to help each child succeed in every aspect of their education. There are students that need to see things written down and I am able to do that. What ever their learning style may be I am capable to adapt to it. With patience comes care and want for each student to reach success. Making a difference in each students life will make a difference in mine.
I am currently enrolled at Charleston Southern University. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. Taking these classes has helped me understand students and their different learning needs so much more. I am very easy to communicate with and I am very outgoing. I firmly believe that anyone can make music if they understand that it requires some practice and some desire to learn. I love seeing a child's face light up when they learn how to play a piece of music or make a sound on an instrument; it is a phenomenal feeling. I felt that I was cheated out of my music education so I try to make it my goal to make sure I do not do the same to other young people.
