A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very much like my personality. I am goal oriented and I like to help students set goals and see them achieve them. I don't try to teach beyond my ability, but I do bring out the drive in students to succeed. I try to make learning fun and I am creative in my efforts. I look at teachig as something I am good at and feel it is a privalidge for me to give back the knowledge I have to anyone who is hungry for it.
As a music teacher, I have am well schooled and enjoy teaching all instruments as well as vocal music. I have a thourough knowledge of music and can teach reading, theory, basic improvisation, and technique on virtually band instruments. I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. If you can connect to way what they are into, either cartoons, hip-hop, popular culture, with conservative humor, then sometimes you can gain their understanding much quicker. In math I try to use a very simple, step by step process and continue until they "Get it!"

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very easy to communicate with and I am very outgoing. I firmly believe that anyone can make music if they understand that it requires some practice and some desire to learn. I love seeing a child's face light up when they learn how to play a piece of music or make a sound on an instrument; it is a phenomenal feeling. I felt that I was cheated out of my music education so I try to make it my goal to make sure I do not do the same to other young people.
Upon earning my International Baccalaureate diploma in high school, I immediately decided teaching music was what I wanted to do.
