This is what keeps me working with children, although I no longer teach full-time. I believe that the small successes help a student progress quicker and with more confidence and self-esteem. Positive reinforcement is key, as well a sense of comfort with what is being learned. I believe that instilling the confidence to learn is the key to effective instruction. Students need confidence not only in their instructor’s mastery of the subject matter, but also in their own ability to gain their own such master.
