I am currently enrolled in UNC majoring in Music and Arabic. I have spent the past year working in an after school program working primarily with elementary age children, but also assisting up to age 18 with their studies. I have tutored in a multitude of subjects since high school. I also teach music. I began playing violin at 18 months old, piano at age 4, then changed teachers to Brian Reagin, the concert master of the North Carolina Symphony at age 5 and learned to read music. I began voice lessons at age 8 and began doin theatre at a professional level at age 10.

I have tutored students of all ages all throughout five years of college in various subjects. I have given guitar lessons to two children. One student was elementary age and the other student was middle school age. I currently work at a high school where I am an associate in the library. My job is to monitor the students and help them in any way they need help. Also, I have two ELL (English Language Learners) students with whom I do activities to better their understanding of the English language plus help them with tests and papers.

I student taught for sixteen weeks from August 22nd, 2011 thru December 2nd, 2011. My first eight weeks I worked at a middle school and taught symphonic band, beginner band, and private lessons. During these eight weeks, I gained much experience working with students at all levels and abilities and reached the potential of every student to the best I could. My next eight weeks I worked with elementary students at three different schools. This was a great experiece because I built the foundation of some many future musicians and was able to teach students on multiple instruments with various teaching strategies.

Most of my experience comes from substitute teaching. I have been a certified local substitute teacher since September of 2010. I have taught everything from math and science to physical education and music while working as a local substitute teacher. I was able to provide additional service by mentoring individuals who were struggling with material in lessons and assignments. Other professional experience comes from working as a private voice tutor since May of 2010. I have coached many individuals both young and old through voice lessons to establish a core of healthy vocal routines and technique. I have been a tutor for many different areas, primarily music, during my High School years. Have worked in a program that focused in teaching poor homeless children to play various instruments. I also taught them how to build and maintain their instruments, and learned myself how to do it.
