I hold a BA in journalism and an MFA in English. I taught college-level developmental and conventional composition at Midlands Technical College in Columbia SC for nine years in an adjunct capacity although I averaged four courses per semester. For most of that time I also worked as a tutor in the college's Writing Center, which I managed for my last two years with MTC. The college converted to an umbrella Learning Center for all departments, and my management duties were eliminated.
