A Little Bit About Me...

I truly believe that very student has the potential to learn and to grow. It is my job to find a way to reach that student and to find a way to teach a concept in a way that he/she will understand and retain that information. Sometimes it just takes a couple of tries to find the best way for each individual student to learn.
I have completed over 1,000 field experience hours working with students with special needs throughout the course of receiving my special education degree. During these experiences, I have worked with many different students with a wide variety of disabilities and learning difficulties ranging from ADD/ADHD to students with severe needs such as autism and Down syndrome. Throughout my experiences, I have created and implemented lessons and behavior management interventions to address each students individual needs and goals outlined in his/her IEP. My comments on tutoring Special Education : Seven years of teaching experience in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms teaching students with special education needs.

A wide variety of educational experiences as a teacher, from international schools in Scandanavia to a one room schoolhouse in rural southeastern Montana. My experience in the diversity of students I've taught is similar to that of the places I've taught. Have worked with students with behavior disorders, special education needs, as well as English language leaners.
Interactive to show students how learning can be fun. I typically include a game in sometime I'm doing, to either grasp their attention or give them something to look forward to, or a little of both.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 23 years as a career professional of government IT services. This includes, contract negotiations, Network Engineering, CAD, Security, Multi-media, Graphic Arts and Photography. I have written a 120pg thesis entitled "Datawarehousing." I enjoy my small business "Digital Advertising" and likely have the most tutoring skills in this area.
One on one works best for me...however my teaching experience was in a classroom environment utilizing mostly Powerpoint Slides with questions and answers. I taught IT type skills "Operating Procedures" to beginning level IT support technicians. I do not hhave an official teaching certification.

As educators, teachers and tutors play a vital role in the lives of children. I consider this to be a great responsibility and a great reward. We are responsible to see that every child in our reach feels safe, valued, and capable. We receive great reward in watching the light of learning beam in a student's eyes, possibly for the first time. I will encourage and guide all my students to reach their maximum potential. I hope to provide students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges of their future. I believe this brief quote puts everything we do as tutors, teachers, and educators into perspective: "In 100 years from now, it will not matter what type of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, or how much money I had in the bank...but that I was important in the life of a child."
I taught 5th grade for 3 years, right out ... read more

Every person is different and requires a unique style for learning. I have used many different styles in my experiences, and I tend to use the one that works the best for that individual. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduted December 2007 with a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary studies and a minor in Reading. I completed a semester of student teaching where I worked with a Kindergarten classroom. I made up lesson plans for the class as well as carried out the sugested plans. I taught all subjects while I was there. On the weekends I also helped tutor students in reading a math.
Inspiring children to try their hardest and their best in everything they do; and inspiring them to use their own imagination when it comes to work or play. Nowadays, most children would rather sit in front of the television and play video games all afternoon rather than go outside and play or make up their own games. Stirring up a child’s imagination and teaching them that school can in fact be fun and exciting can make them want to go home and continue what they were doing in the classroom. I hope to be a teach ... read more

I love to be an encourager and to build children up in their educational experiences. I believe in small portions, using this as a learning tool. To tackle tough learning experiences we take one piece at a time and keep the end in site. I love to help children celebrate their successes big and little. I believe that: children need positive role models to build their confidences while helping them succeed not only in school but also in life. :) I would love to have t ... read more

I love teaching and believe any child can learn with the right incentives. I have taught at-risk high schooler's and mentored and tutored them from freshman year to high school graduation.I tend to use the emotional intelligence model for teaching since everyone displays their strengths through various characteristics. I incorporate visuals, literature, and critical thinking skills to encourage students to believe they can learn and to draw their gifts and talents from within themselves.I encourage artistic creativity utilizing poetry, story telling, art and music to allow a student to find their own style of learning and to grow from using these methods.

As a volunteer, I have enjoyed teaching children with learning disabilities. I believe I can make a difference as a tutor. For example, one day I overheard my son's Kindergarten teacher say she would have to hold back one of the students from entering first grade because the child could not count to ten or say the alphabet. I asked this teacher if I could be a volunteer tutor for this child an hour once a week over the remaining three months of the school year to see if I could help turn the situation around. One of my proudest moments came shortly after the tutoring period ended in which the Kindergarten teacher announced she would be able to enter this child into first grade along with the rest of his classmates!

Children deserve the best education possible. I feel my teaching can contribute to their success in the classroom and enhance their learning experience. Teaching should be structured to ensure that student needs are met. Teaching should be creative so that students are involved in the process. Students should be provided a learning environment where they can grow to their full potential.
As a Special Education teacher, I am expert at creating lessons that will reach your student. I have worked specifically with elementary level reading and interventions, but also have worked with middle and high school students in literature, writing and grammar.

As a substitute teacher, I try to engage the interest of all the students by greeting them by name initially as I welcome them to their classroom. Easing the tension when someone messes up by asmitting that everyone blows it at some point is always a hit. It is understood by all that the day will be different than when their teacher is in the classroom, but that we'll get through together. So, we move through the day making the most of every activity.
As a Michigan resident, I was unable to find sny substantial work in the fiels of Social Work once I earned my BA degree. So, I worked in 3-4 school districts over a two year period before gaining full time work with the State. Eventually, in 2006 I lost my position with the state and again returned to substitute teaching. I enjoy young poeple and giving them a strong dose of encouragement even in brief one-day encounters.
