As an individual involved in advanced development activities at Eastman Kodak, I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of science into product development and I also had the opportunity to train other individuals in the workings of a new product as that product became commercialized and a large staff of engineers and technicians were needed for the product's manufacture. I have a rare gift of being able to impart practical examples of academic principles. In one experience with a former student I explained calculus in a way that she could relate the rate of change to a physical experience in a way that it came alive. When principles are understood in a practical and physical manner students are bound to to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals and are better able to both retain and build upon them.
