Throughout my scholastic career I have always been a focused and driven student. I have learned that the best way to teach is to let the student know how much you enjoy the subject and then work to make them feel the same way. I graduated from Purdue University in May of 2007 with a BS degree in Applied Physics. The Applied portion means I took an additional 10 courses on top of the normal physics load. This has given me an in-site on math, physics, chemistry, computer programming, astronomy, and a bit about electronics. I know how to be thorough in my work with a high attention to detail. I have tutored in math, physics, and chemistry in the past. I approach teaching as a challenge; as I know not every student learns the same way. I first start by finding a common ground; a level of knowledge if you will. Essentially I find what they know and where do they need help. My style is relaxed, but focused, with a touch of humor to ease nerves. The first step is creating comfort and trust between the student and the tutor. To do this, when coaching Chemistry, I would have the student present a problem. Then, I'd say, well, let's figure this out together. And, truly, that is what we would do, step by step, by asking questions. What do we know? What do we need to figure out?
