After graduating college, my career led me on a path of training teachers, developing curriculum for schools and teachers, and finally into the position I am now, as a K-5 Technology Instructor. I understand that science, especially chemistry, is not intuitive to everyone. Quite often, chemistry can be related to real life phenomena or can be explained in ways that are more tangible to the young student. I strive to find those relations and teach science in that manner. Furthermore, my favorite teachers were those that made learning fun, not just repeatedly doing homework problem after homework problem. I believe that while there is some merit in repetition, a student will remember something if the learning process is presented using everyday examples.

While teaching in a classroom environment, it is difficult to give all the students the individual attention that's needed. It is often that I can help a student get over a small hurdle, but afterward the student is reluctant to take up more time to ask another question while others are having problems and waiting.
