A Little Bit About Me...

I have a lot of good resources on powerpoint, online, lecture materials, etc. I also have experience teaching in an on-line environment, or virtual classroom. I have ways to make the complicated materials seem much easier to understand and I can explain how to summarize the important info from a tough concept.
Graduated from the UofA after completing the Veterinary Science degree and a minor in Chemistry. I went on to work with exotic animals for a few years and then started teaching Anatomy & Physiology in a for-profit college institution. I taught a variety of Allied Health and other science courses which included the following, Medical Terminology, Microbiology, Human Diseases, Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Dosage Calculations Medical Math. I have experience creating an on-line classroom and building the lesson plan, assignments, etc. as well.

My teaching style is simple. I apply real-world applications to each subject helping each student find that connection for better understanding. Making the learning experience fun helping my students retain the information that is learned.
I have been providing tutoring and music lessons for 20 years. I studied French Horn on full scholarship at the University of Arizona. I have been playing music professionally (getting paid ;-) since I was 18. I play just about every wind instrument know to man. I have been working professionally in the health care field since 1996. I earned my bachelor's in Health Promotion in 2004 with a 4.0 GPA. I have been volunteering at my children's school for 7 years, coaching chess and soccer. My tutoring began in when I was employed with Nazareth Colleges' Partners for Learning program. This program worked with several schools in the Rochester, NY area to provide in school and after school tutoring and teaching assistance to children grades 6-12. I specialized at one school, Hope Hall in Gates, NY, where I worked with students who had a variety of learning challenges. I assisted students with subjects such as: English, Spanish, French, math, language arts, science and social studies. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in a more visual aspect in learning and teaching. "Hands on" as much as possible. For example, it's easier to learn looking at a mesquite tree than reading about it or looking at a picture of the tree. I try to make learning fun and thrill to the discovery of knowledge. A lot of biology however, is more of a "rote memorization" type of learning. This tends to bore some so I try to make it more real and exciting.
Most of my experience is working as a Wildlife Biologist for the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the Bureau of Reclamation (1973-2006). I worked as a teaching Assistant for Dr. Bender at ASU (1972). I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Science from Northwest Nazarene College (University)and a Master of Science in Zoology from Arizona State University.

I am a junior at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio Texas, but return home to Tucson, AZ for the summers. I am working towards my Bachelor of Science in Biology and I am currently applying to medical school. Through my strong academics and excellent organization skills, I was chosen to tutor the following subjects as an undergraduate: general biology, anatomy and prepatory/introduction to chemistry.
I find that the most rewarding aspect of teaching is the time spent interacting and engaging with the students. Teaching Style: When the school busses arrived in the morning at Drumlin Farm, I would always welcome the visiting pupils with great enthusiasm. I would determine what the boys and girls already knew, or thought they knew, and what they would like to learn. Then we would go off to have a joyous and educational time learning about, and milking the cows, collecting and scrambling eggs, or planting pumpkin seeds in the warm May soil.
