My experience started when I was seven years old with the abc' s in asl. Then in high school I found out my cousin was born deaf so I started to learn even more. I would stay up all night with people on google the sign so I could learn the language. I also worked for deaf access services or DAS for short. That place was where deaf people could come and asked for interpreters for there needs. In college ( still in ) I took asl 1 and 2. However the school dose not teach more that that I'm looking as other schools it go to for learning more. Before moving to Tucson, I found myself helping other students, sometimes elementary and sometimes high school or junior high. It became clear to them that most of my peers didn't understanding the lectures or in class notes that were provided. In fact, most of the examples never matched the tests that were given. I broke down the lessons into sub-divisions that students of all ages could understand. Education is a viable tool for the kids in this generation. Technology also plays a role in the learning environment. In my experience, I find often times that it isn't enough for a child to read material and have a clear understanding. Visual concepts as well as real life examples makes all the difference between learning the subject and failing to understand the general concepts behind the subject itself.
