I feel teaching is a calling. I believe all children have gifts, but we teachers must learn how to reach them. I believe in the Multiple Intelligence theory that if students and teachers know best how a student learns, this will help him or her become more successful. I do not use a textbook when teaching. I believe the most important skill we can impart to children is a love for learning, and a curiosity about life. That, with a firm foundation in reading and math, will take them anywhere they want to go. I do utilize more of a socratic rather than a didactic approach, and endeavor to involve the learner in discovery as much as possible.
