Experience Summary
I have a BS is Mathematics, which has given me the knowledge and confidence to teach various levels of Mathematics. I have participated in research programs which have given me a thorough understanding of how to prepare research papers. During the last decade I have taught and tutored in mathematics, reading, and study skills with a high level of success in my students. I have taught and tutored from first grade through first year college levels, mostly sixth through twelfth. I have seen student attitudes change toward their academics and lives change, for the better.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching and working with children of all ages. I feel any person regardless of age can learn. Each learns to their own preferred learning style. First, an analysis of student skills must be taken to ensure foundational skills are sufficient. Next, students need an explanation of new material; I prefer a hands-on approach. This needs to be given in such a way that builds on previous knowledge with minimal confusion. Lastly, I feel students need practice with instant feedback, repetition and continuous review of weak skills.
