Experience Summary
Since graduating from my undergraduate program in 2007, I have had a passion for teaching and learning. My first teaching experience was working in Camden, New Jersey. I served as an intern art teacher for at-risk first through third graders in an after school/summer school program. Shortly thereafter I started my Master's program, where I integrated my passion for teaching into my capstone project. I was given the opportunity to teach at-risk fifth through eighth graders basic life and business skills, which included everything from how to calculate simple interest to how to apply for college. Around the same time, my goddaughter, now eleven, was diagnosed with learning disabilities. I began tutoring her in spelling and reading, and it became a great way for us to spend time together, have fun, and learn. She has been doing well this year, receiving all B's and one B-. For the past two years, I have been working in the Writing Center at Azusa Pacific University as a resource coordinator, working with the director to train writing coaches to teach writing to college students, international students, and adult learners. Through all of these experiences, I have seen the importance of learning and the unlimited opportunities it presents.
Teaching Style
I'm extremely patient. I try to find creative ways to keep the kids engaged in the material, making sure that learning is fun.

basketball, movies, dogs (I have three), cooking and baking, Disneyland (I just moved here from California)
