Experience Summary
I've been teaching and tutoring Chemistry regularly for 7+ years at the University of Arkansas; I began when I was an undergraduate and continued into this year, which is my final year of graduate school. Call the department and/or ask around; you won't find anyone more interested or able to help you (or your son/daughter/friend/family member) fix their problems. I am a Biochemist by training, though most of my teaching volume comes from those struggling with high school or University Chemistry, semesters 1 and 2. Generally speeds things up if you have done at least some of the course homework, so that I can review your work to discover if struggles are conceptual, mathematical, or both. Can provide recommendations if necessary. I have some flexibility with scheduling, to a degree, and I can travel if necessary, which is sometimes easier, especially for high school students. For everyone's safety, I prefer to meet on 'neutral' ground (i.e. library or another quiet but public setting, etc.) until everyone feels comfortable. Just a good policy, I'm sure you'll agree. Teaching Style
Interactive, with an emphasis on problem solving and explaining concepts in language that the uninitiated can grasp
My Hobbies
Really? Ok, I'm big into disc golf these days -- lots of fun, highly recommend. Lately I've been writing my dissertation. I spend most of my free time with my family, doing kid stuff. I've seen every cartoon movie in the world at this point. Hope that helps you understand who I am :)
