A Little Bit About Me...

I am Dyslexic and approach subjects from a different angle. I use a lot of visual techniques to help the understanding of the objective at hand. I try and figure out what works best for the student. I also try to have some fun in the learning process and keep stress and anxiety levels for the student at a minimum.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate of a Christian University, and I have recently completed my certification training for me to be an elementary or Middle school teacher this fall. I have tutored elementary students prior in reading, phonics, and math. I have been a youth and children's pastor for five years, while also substitute teaching. I have taken many courses in English, psychology, child development, religion, math, and other courses. I also worked for 12 years as a mechanical designer in the aerospace industry.
I love working with children and youth. I believe all students can learn, but each are individuals with different capabilities. From Novemeber of 2008 until November of 2009, I was an English Teacher at Wilshire Korea Language School in Busan, South Korea. I taught children from the ages of 7 - 18. We covered conversational English, Reading, Essay writing, and listening comprehension.
I consider my teaching style to be interactive. I like for the student to be constantly involved in the lesson and not just listening. I have found that if the student participates more, the student will learn more quickly. I also believe students enjoy learning more if they have some input into the methods used to teach. I like to give them a few choices for activities to do. The student is more receptive to new material if they feel that they had a choice in how the material was introduced to them.
