I am a 19 year old college student who is living in Murrieta for the next few summer months, and attends Cal State Fullerton. I have taken piano lessons for over 11 years now, and have a few years experience in teaching/tutoring in piano. My major concentration in college is Studio Art, and have also had experience in teaching art classes through M.A.D. Studio. Through experience in college and high school, I am also very familiar with Microsoft Office programs, and have helped those who are struggling in the newer editions of these MS programs. My teaching style is not entirely concrete, for I feel that it depends on the maturity of the student and willingness to learn the subject at hand. I am very patient when I need to be, and my main goal is to simply make sure each student walks away knowing what they needed to learn.

I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher. Students are empowered when they learn from their experience and begin to flourish in themselves. At university, my enthusiasm for the outdoors lead me to the arts. I took a particular interest in poetry and short stories and immersed myself in literary life at UCSD. As a high school student, I taught music and math to middle school kids for approximately two years. The music they learned was performed in a competitive circuit in which they placed. As an undergraduate, I served as a study proctor in my sorority from 2007-2009 tutoring in the subjects of math, science, and writing. I believe tutoring is not only to raise children's grades, but also to make sure they understand the material so it can be applied to other principles in their future education.
