I have just received my BA in E-Business management with a minor in Criminal Justice. I am beginning my Masters in Criminal Justice in March and will continue to a Dr. in the same field when possible. I do not have professional experience teaching however I have experience tutoring my niece who I have been responsible for since she was 5. She is now 12 and a straight A student. I tutored throughout school and was a teachers aid in Elementary school. I have 2 young boys of my own who will beginning school next year. I have tutored in writing, K-5 math, science and history. I really love working with young people and helping them to reach their full potential. As a tutor, I do not teach the material necessarily, but I help to facilitate the learning process and reiterate what has already been explained and taught in the classroom (hopefully). I enjoy helping students learn, no matter what the subject is. Young people truly are the future, and as an educator I feel compelled to invest in their academic experience. When I started at UCF, I was invited to join a cohort of students who were on the path to become Educators, the STEP Program. This allowed me early on to get into a classroom and volunteer with students. These early experiences made me know for certain that my passion was in teaching. In Spring 2010, my degree in Elementary Education was conferred. Over the summer I worked for a Girl Scout day camp, and then was hired by the Citrus Council. After receiving a Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Youngstown University, Youngstown, Ohio I was employed by the Crestwood Schools, Mantua, Ohio to teach instrumental music. I taught this subject at the middle school level while assisting with the high school program. My entire thirty year career in instrumental music was with the Crestwood School System. During my tenure at Crestwood Middle School the instrumental music program evolved into a vital program within the school involving four bands and over 250 students. During these years and to the present I still am involved in private music lessons and aiding music stores with their instrument recruitment process. I absolutely love helping children obtain their goals education-wise. I understand that every child is unique, and have unique learning styles; some children learn best visually, others are auditory learners.
