Experience Summary
My experiences involve the teaching and performance of music education. I am a skilled performer on the trombone, keyboards, drums and percussion. I am qualified to teach brass instruments at levels k-12 and stringed instruments at k-5. I have performed professionally in 7 states, Italy and Belgium, while serving in the military. I have created a choir for prime-time European television broadcasts in Brussels and Vicenza. I am a charter member of the Brussels chapter of "Toastmasters International". I have been a substitute teacher for the last 5 years in Olympia, WA. and Versailles, Ky. and a Driver Safety and Awareness instructor for Ashland Oil corporate executives.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is one that is more interactive than instructional. I continue to be amazed while I observe the thought process and problem solving techniques, of the many different and varying individuals and personalities. I am at my best in one on one situations, where I can troubleshoot and identify learning challenges in their early stages. I believe we retain 30% of what we hear and 50% of what we do. The remainder is acquired through repetition, which is a byproduct of a passion waiting to be discovered.
