I seem to have a rapport with children and can easily communicate and garner their trust. My teaching style depends on the student and how they receive and process information. Initially I prefer to create a dialogue whereby I am able to gain an understanding with the child about how they are motivated and what has been an effective way to facilitate their learning. When I approach a student I've never worked with, my first priority is to make them feel comfortable by letting them see that I am a very nice, friendly, and compassionate person that they might like to have as a friend. Next I try to get them to tell me about themselves in some way (what they've been working on, their favorite subjects) to try to encourage them to speak freely with me about what they're thinking.
