In the early seventies I was a tutor for a Canadian third grader through Operation Share at Mesa Community College San Diego Ca where I was studying elementary education. From 1985 through 1987 I worked at a domestic violence shelter often working with the children of abused women to help them stay current in school. Most were elementary school age. During that time I also volunteered for C.A.P.P (Child Assault Prevention Project) which taught elementary age children techniques avoid physical and sexual assault. I am currently enroled in a Teachers Assistant program through Alamanmce Comunity college. I taught pre-school to three year olds at Kiddie Kollege in Findlay Ohio from 1978-1981.

The Omega School, an alternative hiigh school that occupied a few rooms in an an old office buiilding, helped high risk students who couldn't fit into a regular high school environment obtain their GED. I began 'teaching' as the head wakeboarding instructor at Coble Ski School in Lillington, NC, when I was a junior in high school. Shortly thereafter I took a position working at a beach resort in Pensacola, FL, where I spent an entire summer instructing surfing, kayaking and sailing. At Duke I tutored during each of my four years, either biweekly at a local Durham elementary school or at the Emily K Family Life Center.
