I have always been a student who enjoys math and science. At a young age I participated in math competitions and clubs. As I became older I transferred that youthful facility towards my college coursework. Learning mathematics and science through physics gave me a rigorous understanding of mathematics and science, subjects that can sometimes be confusing to students. In recent years I have been a very vocal enthusiast of math and physics, always seeking new demonstrations to share my enthusiasm and knowledge. I have been tutoring for many years with different kinds of children. To begin with, I tutored my younger sister starting when she was about seven years old to age twelve or thirteen. In high school, I also volunteered for an after-school program for Hispanic children ages seven-twelve where I helped them with their homework in various subjects. In addition, I spent about four months tutoring a severely autistic child, teaching him different communication skills and helping him to form patterns. I like starting with the given information and stepping through the processes to solve a problem. Reminding them of, or even showing them, the rules, properties, and examples in the book. I normally try to find the method that best works with each pupil, then highlight on that. I also make sure not to do the work for the student. I will sometimes come up with a similar problem to work through so they can see what's really going on within the problem. I have tutored Algebra through Calculus I and Elementary Statistics for the last three years. 1.5 years at both Wichita State University and Washburn University. I'm currently working on a second Bachelors degree in mathematics, but this time with an emphasis in Actuarial Science.
