Experience Summary
I participated in ROTC and majored in Math and Physics at the University of Colorado. After college, I joined the Air Force and worked in the airfield operations career field. After two years, I was chosen to become an instructor, where I fell in love with teaching. After separating from the military, I substitute taught for a year, primarily focusing on high school math. In 2007, I moved to Las Vegas, and I worked for a Tutoring Club. I taught math and my students ranged in age from 8 years through adult.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and working with students of all ages. I particularly enjoy watching a student's eyes light up after catching on to something new. I know all students learn in different ways, but I believe most people learn best when they are relaxed and enjoying themselves. I also believe it is important, especially for math, tasks be completed multiple times for the ideas to really be remembered. I believe making students explain the material to someone else is an effective way to gauge understanding. Most importantly, I truly care about students as people.
