A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 350 hours of experience working in middle school intensive reading classrooms, 180 hours in a 7th grade science room, completed an internship in a 7th and 8th grade science classroom, and volunteered at Naples Botanical Gardens. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I understand how important it is for children to learn math concepts through active learning rather than with worksheets.

I believe a classroom for young children should provide a warm, accepting, and challenging environment.
I taught kindergarten in public school for twenty years. I am currently teaching in a private school setting. I teach a voluntary preschool class (VPK). Education is essential for the mind to grow.

I have helped people with their English-speaking skills off and on and am very skilled in spelling and grammar. I've been learning Japanese for going on three years, as well. I'm aware that it's not a particularly high in-demand language to learn, but I am more than willing to aid in learning it if it is desired. Also, having graduated high school, I have enough knowledge to teach kids about the basics of science, math, and English.
On the whole, I look for a rather creative approach when it comes to learning and studying. I ask that students be skeptical in all they hear and read, so asking questions as a form of studying will be essential. Just reading a book or looking at flash cards for studying purposes can prove to be tedious and ineffective. And putting what's learned in context is always necessary if the subject calls for any everyday application.
