Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I started to learn this language six years ago because my little cousin is deaf. I also worked in a deaf office for alittle where all you did was sigh.

My experience started when I was seven years old with the abc' s in asl. Then in high school I found out my cousin was born deaf so I started to learn even more. I would stay up all night with people on google the sign so I could learn the language. I also worked for deaf access services or DAS for short. That place was where deaf people could come and asked for interpreters for there needs. In college ( still in ) I took asl 1 and 2. However the school dose not teach more that that I'm looking as other schools it go to for learning more. One thing I have noticed from signing with people all over the world,is that you always are learning new sign.
I can adapt to any style needed.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I have been teaching ASL (college and high school), teaching Deaf teens, and interpreting for Deaf and hearing individuals professionally for about 25 years!

I have been teaching ASL (in colleges and high schools), teaching History and Reading courses to Deaf teenagers in ASL, and interpreting between American Sign Language and spoken English professionally for nearly 25 years! I am currently the only hearing teacher in my department. I spend a larger percentage of my day "speaking" ASL than English! I ADORE ASL, Deaf Culture, interpreting, etc. and I have an absolute passion for teaching!
We do a lot of hands on activities. The best way to learn a language is to actually USE that language in conversations! (My undergraduate degree was in Special Education. I believe if a student experiences success and enjoyment in an area of study, they will thrive there! I aim to make my classes meaningful and *fun*!)

I believe that each student has a different style of learning, and I am more than willing to adapt to the child. It is crucial for students to understand all the fundamentals of education, so that higher levels (college) of education will be obtained. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as an assistant preschool teacher for a little over 2 years.I worked with two year olds mostly, but the children ranged from infants to K level. I was responsible for supervising and assisting in teaching a classroom of 20 two year olds.
I am very patient and detailed teacher. I go step by step when trying to teach a child how to do something. I don't skip steps. If they still don't understand, I don't go on to the next part of the lesson. I make sure they know and understand how to do the first part before I go onto the second part. Also I make things as simple as possible, complexing a subject doesn't do any good when it comes to teaching.
