Sign Language is one of my top subjects! Two college semesters of ASL, taken with a deaf professor. I have also translated songs for a choir. Although I am not fluent in this language, it remains to be one of my absolute favorites.

I have tutored many young students throughout my life, and have been tutored myself. I do find it easier to work with younger children; however, I am capable of assisting those of high school or college age students who are struggling. I have helped young children learn how to read, write, count, and tell time on an analog clock. Though I do not have strictly professional tutoring experience (I have never been paid for my services) I know how to identify student's learning style(s) and work with them a way that they will benefit from. I believe that children and adult education is extremely important, and I can also assist those of any age who would like to learn to read and write.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I took two years in high school and have taken 2+ years of college coursework. I have taught various people how to sign, from personal friends to the children of personal friend, as well as college students and other special circumstances. I have a passion for the language and love teaching others the skill for future use.

I begin with fingerspelling and numbers, move to basic signs used around the house and in casual introductory level conversations, and finally progress to more detail oriented conversations. Every student learns differently and I will adjust the teaching method to what is the most appropriate for that specific person. After introducing and implementing the basics, conversational skills are my preferred method as these allow the learner to become more comfortable and produce at their own speed.
My experience begins with ASL 1 and 2 in high school, followed by ASL 3, 4, and 5 in college. My teaching style will be based on each individual clients needs for the area they are currently studying.
I have been signing collectively for about 14 years. I have been active in the deaf community for the past 3 years. In the past I have interpreted for adult education classes and medical appointments with Deaf, Deaf and Blind, and Hard of Hearing individuals. I have previously taught new mothers how to instill sign language as a verbal communication for their infant child to support brain development and lower frustrations for both mother and child. I have recently graduated from College of the Canyons with an Associates Degree in Psychology. I am currently attending Brandman University for a Bachelors Degree in General Psychology, which should be completed by summer of 2015.
