English Tutoring for Foreigners! Can speak Chinese!

I taught English to preschool-age students and elementary school students abroad for a period of about 5 months and learned a lot in that short time. I also can speak Mandarin Chinese at lower intermediate level and lived in China for over 2 years. I can understand and appreciate the difficulties involved in learning a foreign language, especially for Chinese natives. My teaching style is to make sure that those I am helping understand what is being talked about. If they do not, we will keep working at it until clear. My Experience: In 1964, I graduated from Columbia College, in Geology. Subsequently, I worked in oil well drilling in Israel, and on a dam project in New Jersey. After earning an MA in Art Education, at Brooklyn College in 1975, I helped found the Waltham Mass. Artists Association, where I created beautiful enamels, and mentored several child students. I graduated with a BA in French and Elementary Education and taught for 4 years in multi-age classrooms. Then I tutored while I stayed home with my children. I resumed teaching 1995 and earned an MAT in Elementary Education in 1998. My experience continued in multi-age classrooms where I taught reading, math, English, handwriting, science, social studies, P.E., art, and music for grades 1-6. I also tutored students after school in remedial reading using Project Read.
My approach to teaching is that all children can learn given opportunities in a "safe" environment. I taught many students with learning challenges and I had to individualize their program.
