My comments on tutoring Algebra : I have not taken algebra since middle school, but as algebra builds upon other subjects, I know most of it.

My teaching style is flexible because every student learns differently. What I usually start out with is showing examples and having the student ask questions along the way. Then, I allow the student to try some problems as we work through them together.
Although I do not have much experience with regards to tutoring, I often help my fellow peers with their homework and tutor them on the things that they struggle on. I am a strong student, currently #1 in my class, with straight A's with enrollment in Advanced Placement classes. Often times, my fellow peers come to me when their teacher is not accessible and need help regarding their classes. Of course, I'm always willing to help them because I want them to succeed.

I am a High School Student at Legend High School I am a level 8 gymnast so weekends are the only time I have open. I love working with younger kids. I have worked with younger kids in Science fields before and their grades have gone up on an average of 4%. I also make sure the child is comprehending what they are learning instead of going through the motions and just finding patterns within the problems.

I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I normally explain the concepts in diagrams so that it makes it easier for the student to visualize the problem and give the student plenty of practice problems for him/her to work on to make their understanding better

Each time I have taught a different age-level I have sought to accommodate myself to the learning style of that particular level, whether psychokinetic for kindergarten and preschool, audio-visual for lower elementary, or verbal-phonemic for upper-level students and adults. After having studied Journalism for three years at Colorado State University, while also taking Spanish as a second major, I decided for the latter as a career path and went to Mexico to study Hispanic-American Language and Literature. After a year of international studies, I returned to Journalism as a reporter for a Spanish-language daily in San Diego.
