I believe in a patient, understanding way of teaching. In order for the child to learn to read and write, a person must have a great deal of patience and understanding. Never make the child feel uncomfortable or frustrated. Reading and writing takes time, and with patience and understanding, along with encouragement, and praise, a child can learn to read and write with confidence. I was a technical instructor for an oil/gas company for just over 5 years. We focused on competency based training along with ensuring skills would transfer into the workplace. Prior to that, I graduated from a highly technical private engineering school with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. The school was on a trimester schedule so that we could finish a normal 5 year degree in only 4 years so it was a highly demanding program.
