I believe that every student can learn more than they think

I am a laid back type of instructor and use my experience and intuition to create unique learning environments for each student. A Little Bit About Me...

I am interactive and student-centered. I see where the student's strengths lie and build from there. We do homework and tests together, and I move from a coaching role to an observational one, only coaching occasionally as necessary. We work not only on the subject matter, but techniques which improve comprehension, retention, organization and motivation.
I have taught and tutored both children and adults in a wide variety of situations, from job training and test preparation to tutoring for a specific subject. I have taught ESL classes and done individual tutoring, as well as both group and one-on-one instruction in grammar and composition. When you enter a classroom it is like entering a mixing bowl full of different ability levels, motivation levels, talent, and skill. It is the teacher’s job to address each one of their students as an individual to assess what their strengths and weaknesses are. I believe in data driven assessments, but also in getting to know a student personally. The students know what they are good and not good at.
