I believe that every student can learn more than they think

I am a laid back type of instructor and use my experience and intuition to create unique learning environments for each student. I like students to express themselves in their studies, and I encourage each student to express their natural gifts. I have a creative mind which allows me to relate to many types of students and many subjects and to use student's natural interests as a starting point for learning new material.
I have taught for over 30 years in a variety of institutions, but mostly public schools. I am conversant in Spanish and have a broad range of interests and fields of knowledge, including English literature, Math, History, Science, current events and Politics. I have taught grades 3-12, and have experiences teaching all income levels and socio-economic backgrounds.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been studying in the scientific field for over 7 years at the college level and obtained pre-pharmacy status from a community college as well as an Associates of Applied Science Degree from the same community college majoring in Chemical Processing Technology. Also I have obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry from an accredited University. I have taken math courses up to and including differential equations (sometimes called Calculus 4) as well as many organic, inorganic and analytical chemistry courses with the labs for each of these subjects. I have enjoyed teaching my classmates everything from basic theories and concepts to how to use specific instrumentation.

My experience as a non-traditional student has payed huge dividends not only for me, but for those I've helped during my time as a T.A. and tutor. Ten years after I finished high school I decided to begin my collegiate career. The process of learning, re-learning and brushing up on the hard sciences and mathematics has proved to provide a good background from which to explain and help others in those areas. My pursuit (and recent success) of becoming a student doctor has also allowed me to become a well rounded tutor.
