I have taught private lessons for a year, while also teaching ballet, modern, and jazz in studios. I also led dance class at a charter school for a year twice a week. During my private lessons I got to work one on one with individuals and truly see dramatic improvement. I strive to see my students grow and cultivate their own creativity in movement.

My teaching style starts with finding out what the student knows and what is the best way they learn. Not everyone learns the same way and it is hard for students to ask for help. What I find to be the most successful in teaching and mentoring is to learn more about the student and use real life examples that interest them to teach them the material that they need to learn. Also, reading their cues on when they are bored and need more of a challenge, or are in need of me slowing down and more of a review is also important. It is the time spent in tutoring that can really change a students life because before this point they felt helpless. I have a very hands-on approach, using real life examples that children will understand. For example, if there's a math problem involving subtraction, I would use Cheerios cereal or coins. I would say something like "Let's say I gave you 20 Cheerios and took away 5 of them, how may Cheerios would you have left?"
