I have two decades of experience in education. My first 10 years were spent in adult education training adults to work in various organizations in the business world. My last 10 years have been spent in public education classrooms working as a teacher for elementary, middle, and high school students. I have taught core content courses at each level. My teaching style starts with finding out what the student knows and what is the best way they learn. Not everyone learns the same way and it is hard for students to ask for help. What I find to be the most successful in teaching and mentoring is to learn more about the student and use real life examples that interest them to teach them the material that they need to learn. Also, reading their cues on when they are bored and need more of a challenge, or are in need of me slowing down and more of a review is also important. It is the time spent in tutoring that can really change a students life because before this point they felt helpless.
