I would determine what the boys and girls already knew, or thought they knew, and what they would like to learn. Then we would go off to have a joyous and educational time learning about, and milking the cows, collecting and scrambling eggs, or planting pumpkin seeds in the warm May soil. After many years as a Wyoming rancher and three years as an ESL volunteer, I returned to school to become an ESL professional. With my Master of Education degree in hand, I taught a year of ESL classes at Cochise College, then became the Adult ESL Coordinator for Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. I attended college at three different schools, on athletic scholarship in two of them. I earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Philosophy and BA in Political Science. After graduating I spent one semester teaching sciences at an outdoor based alternative middle and elementary school just outside of Austin, TX. In college and afterwards I have continued to be involved in issues regarding immigration and minorities. I spent one year living and working in the Central Andes in Peru.
