College Student - Eager to Gain Experience!

I have an incredible passion for teaching. I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelors in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language and thoroughly enjoy teaching others composition, spelling, creative writing, reading, vocabulary, etc. I do not have much experience yet in a classroom setting but have volunteered at a middle school while getting my Associates degree. I helped a teacher at a middle school to teach students that were having difficulty in various subjects.
I am a hands on teacher, probably because I am a hands on learner. I find it difficult to learn when an instructor is solely lecturing. I believe that constant practice and hands on lessons are the most effective ways of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I started piano as a young child for over ten years. I perfomed in several piano Guild judgings and came out well each time. I also taught piano for several years and put together many piano recitals for my students. I love playing all kinds of music. Jazz and blues are one of my favorites, but I love classical. Each type of music has a different touch and it is a challenge to learn each type of music. I love playing and enjoy helping others master this skill.
I like using many different ways to learn. We are all different in how we learn and taking different approaches helps to take that into account. I like learning to be fun as you learn more when you are having fun.

I have always enjoyed tutoring students and seeing them "get" the subjects we are touching on. The look on their face during this moment is priceless. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from.
