Experience Summary
Taught many different finance and economics courses from 1967 to 2001 at Valparaiso University, Bowling Green State University, the University of Southern California, and Iowa State University.
The material and courses included basic finance, corporate finance. cash flow management, real estate finance, international finance, microeconomics and macroeconomics. Through teaching these courses, I have a solid understanding of the skills needed to learn and the best approahces to learning finance and economic concepts and applications.
Teaching Style
My teaching style has evolved as I gained more experience. I have always been interactive with students in the classroom through projects, cases, and role-playing. In later years, I have made extensive use of materials and videos on the Internet.
For example, when working one-on-one with a learner, I have found it effective to use interesting questions and problems which require the learner to work through the material. I support this with videos on the Internet that either introduce and describe the material or demonstrate to the learner that he or she has learned the material.
