Experience Summary
I graduated from high school with Honors in May of 2014. I am now a Freshman at Northern Arizona University, pursuing a double major in Spanish Secondary Education and Theatre Studies. I took two years of Spanish in high school; I started with Spanish 1 my Junior year and was so proficient that I skipped to Spanish 3 my Senior year and earned my First Year Spanish college credits. Now, at NAU, I am completing my Second Year Spanish credits. I have no formal Spanish tutoring experience, but I have experience with helping friends and peers with beginning-level Spanish. I have been heavily involved in theatre since 7th grade, and it is my life passion. I consider myself a fairly decorated Thespian. I was in theatre all four years of high school, working my way up the ranks to Advanced/Performance level theatre my Senior year. I was also a Teacher Aide for a Beginning theatre class my Senior year, which gave me a year of experience in teaching students 13-16 years old about Shakespeare; Greek, Roman, and English theatre history; stage directions and blocking; movement; pantomime; musical theatre; voice; and improvisation. I have informally coached students of all levels on monologues, duet scenes, group scenes, and musical numbers. I have been involved in over 20 full-length and one-act productions since my Freshman year of high school, and I have directing experience as well. I have worked in hair, makeup, properties and carpentry. I have a small amount of experience with Stagecraft as well, although I am most proficient in Performance studies. I was an Arizona State Student Officer for the International Thespian Society my Senior year of high school, and I am a National Honor Thespian. I am going through a teacher program at NAU and have completed an Introduction to Education course.
My Hobbies
Most of my life is dedicated to theatre! I love to see shows and be apart of shows in any way I can. I love to write poems, stories, and especially scripts (my dream is to be on Saturday Night Live one day, so I want to get some material ready!). I play guitar and ukulele. I also love to cook and bake! Most of my time is dedicated to my studies, however, because I am a full-time student.
Other Comments
I have an immense, burning passion for my subjects. I have wanted to be an educator since I was seven years old, and combined with pursuing my degree, becoming a tutor is a step in the right direction. My purpose in life is to educate, inspire, motivate, and love others. There is nothing I adore more than seeing the look on someone's face when something I am teaching them just "clicks". I LOVE, more than anything else, to share my passion and excitement with people! Long story short: I'm not the most experienced, but I can guarantee that I am the most passionate about what I know, and the most motivated to share it.
