As a student at Western State College in Gunnison, CO I have been tutoring students and fellow athletes in Math for the past year. I have enjoyed the work I have done so far in this area and was looking to further my experience in this field throughout the Gunnison area. I expect to graduate with my BA in 2011. Because all student learn at different levels I believe in order to be a good Math tutor you must show patients with the students you are working with. I believe that if a student doesn't understand what is being taught, part of the fault lies in the way the information is being presented. Most standard classroom settings do not provide the type of learning environment many students need, and I believe this is the root cause of their struggle with the subject matter, not the subject matter itself and certainly not the student. I have enjoyed teaching for many years. My honors-level undergraduate courses led me to a lot of reading and writing --and to serve as a teaching assistant in ethics for five semesters.
