Experience Summary
I believe in the power of education to change people's lives. I have been a music teacher for ten years, a mathematics teacher for two and look forward to another thirty of sharing my passion. Throughout my career, I have taught piano, voice, woodwinds, general music, group piano, and music theory for studios, public schools, and as a private teacher. Additionally, I have taught mathematics as a private tutor and in public middle and high schools.
I believe those who can do, teach. As a teacher, I strive to continually learn in an effort to be a more effective teacher. While attending Bowling Green State University, I developed skills such as listening, dictation, improvisation, and composition. In addition, I developed an understanding of music history, music literature and music theory in addition to my skills in mathematics.
Teaching Style
As a dedicated teacher, I am enthusiastic about student success. I strive to create a positive learning environment where a student can expand his/her horizons, develop his/her skills, learn and grow. I believe that all students can learn and be successful given clear, concise, step-wise instruction. By taking into account a student's interest, goals, learning style and personality, I strive to create lessons which utilize multiples learning styles and a variety of activities.
