Indeed,my teaching style had always been to pay attention to them one-on-one,when they seem to be struggling with a particular assignment. And this is how, I started with my step-daughters,as they were teenagers in high school. Because,I had to set schedules for my girls,that way there is no room for too many playing time,and just watching television.So,at least two hours of their time,is on homework assignments,sometimes thirty minutes extra would be included. I have a son who was born with neurofibromatosis is accompanied by a learning disability. My son is now 18 and in his last year of High School. He has been in special education courses since 2nd grade once being diagnosed with his learning challenges. He has had an active IEP since that time and I have worked very closedly with him throughout his school years. I have worked with him on every subject, every project, and encouraged him along the way. Due to his learning and physical disabilities, he has very low self esteem and this causes him to rebel during most homework sessions.
