Being in software development for 25 years was a worthwhile journey and fulfilling my objectives in that capacity freed me to direct my energies into the areas of supplemental education and academic coaching in the spring of 2006. My recent activities have onsistently focused on preparing the next generation for success. I've found that I really enjoy teaching students, especially those who are struggling, because of the satisfaction that comes with seeing the light come on. I've had many students explain to me that my class is the first one that they've done well and actually understand the concepts. I've taught Project Management for the University of Phoenix in the past, but I especially enjoy teaching math at Pima College... Statistics and the various levels of Algebra.
On the survey sheets that I've seen, I'm often praised for being very patient with students and very respectful of the students, no matter what their level of understanding. As a high school student, my first job was at Kumon Math and Reading Center where I helped tutor Math students for 2 years. Once in college, my tutoring experiences were limited to summers but was able to help one student pass her summer school math class so that she could graduate.
