**My comments on tutoring Logic :** Expert at all Logic concepts. Particularly good at explaining logic from a Discrete Math perspective, building student fluency in logic starting with truth tables and propositional statements, logical connectives AND and OR and negation NOT, commutative, associative and distributive laws, as well as other laws which can be useful such as the idempotent law, rules of inference for proofs such as modus ponens, modus tollens, etc., and methods of proof, as well as logical fallacies. HOT TIP: How to reverse engineer a proof when you have no idea what you're doing on a test and work backward from the conclusion you're trying to prove. Instead of going forward from the start and saying, "If this is true, then this next thing must be true, and this next thing must be true, ..." instead work backward and say, "If this conclusion is true, then this previous thing MUST HAVE BEEN true, and this previous thing MUST HAVE BEEN true..." I will teach you all the dirty (but legal) tricks to survive hard tests.

If you watch me closely during our sessions, you can see me secretly paying keen attention to you and how you learn best. For example, you might say, "It LOOKS like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! LOOKS. Maybe you're a visual learner and like to SEE things explained and SEE examples. (About 80% of students are visual learners.) On the other hand, you might say, "It sounds like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! sounds. Maybe you like to HEAR things explained, and you're a keen listener and like to hear things described clearly and specifically. Or maybe you'll say, "I FEEL like they want me to factor here" (as you tap the problem with your pencil). And I'll think, "Aha! FEEL. Maybe you learn by intuition and need to just jump in and work a problem or two with me step-by-step and discover the pattern of what's going on and pick up the FEEL of it. So... ... read more

**I will give your child my best effort**

I have always endeavored to excel academically and so sought after and received a top-level education at Duke University. Having a love of language and having a desire to be able to teach at all levels, I obtained an MA in English from the UNC-G. I have had 43 years of teaching and tutoring at all levels, elementary through college. I have taught high school English, college English, SAT Prep, and GRE Prep---both the verbal and the math (I scored almost 800 on the math section). I was responsible for setting up a city-wide tutor-training program for children with learning disabilities, wrote the curriculum, interviewed and selected the tutors and staff, and served as the administrator and supervisor.

My primary aim in tutoring students is to assess exactly where they are academically, including reading level and math skills. Then I teach to their exact level. I help them to set up ... read more

**7 years of tutoring experience + 4 years in fin industry**

I want to get the most out of each hour of tutoring. I like to focus on the task, stick to the plan and get high results. My teaching style varies from one student to another depending on their personalities and learning styles. I think that everyone is equally talented and everyone is able to get an A for the hardest exam if puts enough time & effort into it.

8 years of experience with students of different ages and abilities. I enjoy working with students one on one and in small groups since that helps to focus on their weak sides and work them out. I try not only to help students memorize techniques but ask them to create new ways of solving problems which stimulates their creative thinking. As a nonstop student, I know that practice is the key to any course. The more you practice, the more confident you get. So I never lose a minute at my classes and try to maximize productivit ... read more

Every child is unique. Each child possesses his or her own skills, talents, and challenges. I believe students can reach their full potential with personalized instruction that instills confidence, character, and a lifelong love of learning. I offer unmatched experience and excellent results.

With a Major in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science, I have been tutoring high school math , SAT & ACT math for many years. **20+Yrs Teaching/Tutoring College/H.S.; Masters Math&Physics**

I hold two master's degrees -- one in applied mathematics, one in physics. I started teaching math in 1999. While many of the intervening years saw me as a part-time adjunct instructor of mathematics, I did enjoy a full-time appointment to the math faculty of Alabama A&M University for 5 of those years. I have also used my skills in industry and government, most notably at NASA and Intergraph. I've taught just about every undergraduate math course and tutored some graduate ones, too. I started out teaching introductory statistics and probability for several semesters at Oakwood College (now Oakwood University). I have also taught at UAH, Strayer, and Calhoun. I am familiar with the undergrad curriculum. I've tutored students from schools all over the world -- high school and college. I have tutored students from pre-algebra to differential equations (and in an assortment of "off-ro ... read more

Most of my experience comes from substitute teaching. I have been a certified local substitute teacher since September of 2010. I have taught everything from math and science to physical education and music while working as a local substitute teacher. I was able to provide additional service by mentoring individuals who were struggling with material in lessons and assignments.
Other professional experience comes from working as a private voice tutor since May of 2010. I have coached many individuals both young and old through voice lessons to establish a core of healthy vocal routines and technique.
Additionally, I gathered experience through directing my local church choir from January-May of 2011. I conducted every two weeks with additional performances in the Lenten season, led weekly rehearsals and chose all music for the choir, which was coordinated with weekly readings.

**My comments on tutoring Logic :** Logic is what operates our devices and internet, everything from cars to TVs are controlled by logic. I love to explore and learn how logical processes make up our digital lives and just how they make our electrical devices work.

I prefer to teach by doing, as I believe that performing tasks and becoming familiar with the process is more beneficial than wrote memorization or written assignments/quizzes. I like to get to know my student, where they are in their studies, and what they feel they need to work on versus what they already know.

I have plenty of experience working on personal, university, and job related projects. Notable projects I have worked on would include creating a mobile study app for the Genetic Counseling degree at Boise State University, creating a back-end staff directory service/database for the New York Public Library, and plenty of Flutter projects.

**I have an unparalleled amount of patience.**

The roles of the teacher and student are one in the same. I go into teaching knowing that I am not the end all shepherd of information but I am going to give all I can at being as clear, concise, informative, and objective.

My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. In my college career, I found myself teaching people everything from music to proper uses of tense/grammar. It was there that i learned that you really only learn a small fraction of what you need to help you in life in the classroom. The rest must be learned on your own or with some one-on-one counseling. I know that any information can possibly be simplified and made clearer with a little time and attention to towards looking at t ... read more

**EXPERIENCED IN ACT PREP AND ALTERNATIVE LEARNING STUDENTS...**

I am a licensed Social worker with tutoring experience in and out of college. I have the most experience in tutoring Algebra and other math. I have a student now that I am helping with AP English who has dyslexia. I enjoy watching her grammar skills increase and her overall understanding of the concepts develop. I am great with any age individual and have the patience it takes to work with any kind of student (special needs included).

I believe that people learn the best when they understand the meaning and logic behind what they are learning. When a student can see a pattern develop they develop an understanding that can be universally applied to many different areas of study and life circumstances. Learning is different then memorizing. It is especially important to understand the concepts behind the subject matter when planning continue in a similar learning subject.
